Michel Therrien Tells It Like It Is

This interview with Michel Therrien is a beautiful and rare presentation of real human emotion and truth in the media. Everything on TV is so scripted and given with a purpose. Here, Michel Therrien speaks truthfully of his disappointment.

I have a great deal of respect for M. Therrien for being the coach the brought up Sidney Crosby in the NHL and helped him transition his awesome hockey skills to the NHL: often, young talent can be burned when entering the NHL, but M. Therrien did a great job.

Humour: flula

Humour can be brilliant. But it’s so hard to tag any humour as great. So, even if this blog is dedicated to only great videos, I decided to post a couple of these by Flula. I like to explain how to choose my posts, but I think that for humour, I’ll just post and let you enjoy it.

Steve Jobs’ 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

This speech is certainly Steve Jobs’ most profound and beautiful presentation. It is one of the rare and long orations given by him that is about life rather than technology. His perspective on death inspired me when I first heard this for the first time a few years ago.

“If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am going to do today?. And whenever the answer has been ‘no’ for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something”

Myth of the Rational Voter

Bryan Caplan helps us understand the mechanics of a democratic system. This talk is a brilliant introduction to understanding the mechanism at play in an election and how people vote. As per most complex ideas, it doesn’t fit in a single powerpoint slide, basically, if you  want to learn something fundamental, you need to spend 50 minutes of your life on this video. Luckily, Mr Caplan’s sense of humor makes this clip a lot more pleasant than it otherwise could be.

Karmin: Best Web Vocal Performance

Karmin Music is what music on the web should be: pure raw talent. No marketing or other manifestations of the machine between the artist and the listener. Here are two covers from Karmin Covers. They are both so beautiful and wonderful that knowing that  Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann is like those russian figure skating married couples: it makes no sense for a man and woman to do something so beautiful and not be in love.

These 2 are so beautiful that not linking to a nice photo of Karmin them would be a web error.

Best Dubstepping Ever

I’m very happy to start my best videos of the web blog with an absolutely unbeatable and beautiful dubstepping routine.

NONSTOP, featured in this clip shows his amazing control and beautiful interpretation of the music. We see from 1:07 to 2:12 his musicality and closeness to the music which is so often missing in various forms of break-dance. His control even surpasses top poppers like Phillip Chbeeb. His backwards dance that starts at 3:56 is breathtaking. And for lovers of the classic dance, he even goes on point!

This is a video that I am delighted to link for you. Please watch it full screen.
